Barbecue Grill Aprons

Barbecue grill aprons aren’t only for protection and to keep the clothes from getting dirty while grilling; modern-day barbecue aprons add a stylish flair to any barbecuing event. These come either plain or in an endless array of designs and are made in any of various materials. The barbecue apron is a fixed part of the overall tradition and typically comes with a chef’s hat and a pair of oven mitts. The advantage to any BBQ apron is that, regardless of the material out of which it is made, it not only serves in keeping the chef’s clothes clean, but can be cleaned easily when removed. Most cotton twill and cotton/polyester twill combination aprons can be machine-washed and dried, but others, such as those made out of leather, need be wiped with a damp cloth with, perhaps, a touch of leather treatment and a spread of polish to keep it glossy. The important thing about the leather apron’s, though, is that leather can warp or ruin easily if not kept clean, so they should be cleaned right away after soil come in contact with them. Vinyl barbeque aprons can be hand-wiped, too.

As for style, barbecue aprons can accommodate a chef’s needs. The plain barbeque apron, which, believe it or not, is still popular, is traditional. These come in full-body with a neck tie, or a waist-tied version as seen in restaurants. Some—quite a few now—are designed with pockets for holding cooking utensils such as spatulas, forks, tongs, and even a special pouch for the mitt itself. Other barbecue aprons with pockets only feature two, one on either side, for keys, salt and pepper shakers, catsup and mustard, mayonnaise, steak sauce, wine vinegar, condiment packets, or any other needed cooking implements. As cute as they are, children’s barbeque aprons come small and are, appropriately, decorated in personalized images or script to make that the kids’ cooking adventure even more fun.

The most entertaining thing about barbeque aprons is that they come in a wide assortment of designs, from humorous to personal interest. Some examples include: food aprons, like ribs and chicken; animal lover aprons, especially dog and cat lovers; beer/bar theme aprons; Astrology aprons; science-oriented aprons; sports-themed aprons featuring football, fishing, baseball, hockey; rock music aprons with images of The Beatles, KISS, The Stones, or Elvis Presley; Christian and other religious-themed aprons; holiday aprons, specifically Christmas, Halloween, and the Fourth of July; aprons featuring emblems for the police and fire association; patriotic aprons, such as stars-and-stripes patterns; and even adult-oriented aprons (preferably for exclusive parties where children aren’t present). Other particular examples are: Master Chef, Cook-in-Training, and Sexy 50th Birthday barbecue aprons.

Barbecue aprons have many dimensions and are therefore very versatile because they serve multiple purposes at one time. This reflects the barbecue tradition, which also represents many different things. Aprons, then, are very important to the entire event and should always be treated with respect.
